WAIVER WIRED............

By Fantasy Boyz Editor in Chief Corey Bugenhagen

We have been scouring the waiver wires of late and there are some really intriguing options available.  We tend to look for not too obvious options, as we feel this is truly how you get the edge in your leagues.  Below is a list of guys you may not be looking for but guys you should most certainly find.

Michael Brantley - While Brantley has shown absolutely no power thus far he has contributed in all other areas.  He has 25 runs, 21 RBIs to go along with his 9 steals.  He is currently riding a 9 game hit streak so grab him while he is hot.

Span is the man....to pick up
Denard Span - Span is another guy who is owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues and a guy who is quite similar to Brantley in that he contributes in all areas outside of Home Runs.  With 13 hits in his last 9 games he is on a nice streak.

Justin Smoak - While Smoak is currently batting in the .220s he has been a nice source of power in the recent weeks.  He has 3 bombs in his last 6 to go with 9 RBIs.

Anthony Rizzo - PROSPECT WATCH.... Rizzo was the darling of Fantasy circles around this time last year when the mega prospect was on the verge of a call up.  What a difference a year makes.  He bombed out in San Diego last season and was traded to the Cubs.  Well what do we know Rizzo is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball in Triple A and on the verge of another call up.  Worth a risk if you need help at First Base.

James Russell - With Rafeal Dolis banished to the minor leagues Russell stands as the best option to step into the Closer's job at Wrigley.  He already notched his first save this week and could be in line for more.

Tom Wilhelmsen - Another Closer in the wings.  Wihlelmsen has the best skill set of the Mariner relievers in line to take Brandon League's closer's job.

Kyle Kendrick - Coming off of 9 inning shutout of the Cardinals was word that Roy Halladay is out 6 to 8 weeks with a shoulder strain.  Kendrick stands to stay in the rotation for the foreseeable future.  While he would continue to deal zeros on the board he could be serviceable going forward.

Hector Noesi - Not only did the Yankees give up Jesus Montero in the Pineda trade they also lost Noesi, who is coming off two straight 8 inning outings.  While his ERA and win totals are nothing to write home about currently he is progressing nicely.

Waiver Wired

By Fantasy Boyz Editor in Chief Corey Bugenhagen

Here comes another FBoyz Waiver Wire special hot off the press. There are still some solid names out there. Grab them now, while you have the chance.

Elliot Johnson - The Rays shortstop is doing it all currently, hitting for average, a little pop, and 7 steals. With the shortstop position thin you could do worse.

Keep on RAKING
Will Middlebrooks - The young Sox Third Baseman has been ticketed to the minors once Youk is back off the DL. We say NOT SO FAST!!! Middlebrooks is raking. We don't see any way he goes back down, in fact there are rumors that Youk will be the one shipped out.

Ryan Doumit - We don't have to tell you that the depth at Catcher is disgusting. Ryan Doumit is really flying under the radars of many as he is only owned in 8% of ESPN leagues. He has 5 homers and a very impressive 24 RBIs.

Addison Reed - Reed has a newly formed strangle hold on the Chisox closers role. In this season of Closer Carousel welcome Reed to the ride.

Ryan Vogelsong - Vogelsong has been tearing shit up the last 4 games in which he has gone 7 plus allowing 1 run or less in all 4. GIT EM already!!

Waiver Wired......

By Fantasy Boyz Editor in Chief Corey Bugenhagen

As your season is firing on all cylinders we know there is always a spot in your lineup that certainly could use an upgrade.  Below are players we have deemed HOT pickups for this week.  As we always say you can't be content.  You must ALWAYS look to improve.

Casey Janssen - As closers are going down like Jenna Jameson, Janssen is the beneficiary of Sergio Santos's arm troubles.  He is a sure bet for saves for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Soriano we need you....
Rafael Soriano - News out of the Bronx is that David Robertson is out for the next 3 weeks with a strained rib cage.  Soriano is a fantastic pickup in the short term and we would not be surprised if he takes the Closer job and runs with it for the season.

Placido Polanco - The old man can still hit.  He has 13 hits in his last 9 games and can still help a fantasy squad in the short term.  Don't expect any power at this point in his career but solid average is still there.

Yonder Alonso - The young Cuban has flown under most fantasy radars thus far but we are not sure for how much longer.  Alonzo is up to 300 with his average and will give you decent production going forward.  like Polanco you can't expect much power, especially hitting in spacious Petco park but he will get you average and a decent amount of RBI's.

Anthony Bass - Another Padre you probably have never heard of, but one we are really excited about.  Bass posted another stellar outing today with 8 strong and 7 Ks.

Andy Dirks - Dirks has been on fire going on 2 weeks now.  He is batting .360 and still only owned in 56% of ESPN leagues.  If you need outfield help get this guy now!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brett Lawrie Fallout.....

How many games do you think Lawrie will get for the tantrum he threw tonight in Toronto.  We get it the calls were absolute shit but you can't throw your helmet at the Umpire.  I am saying 20 games.  What do you say?

Waiver Wired....

By Fantasy Boyz Editor in Chief Corey Bugenhagen

In our effort to keep you locked in a top your league we take our weekly look at some of the players you should be targeting off the waiver wire.  One piece of advice we always give to owners is to not fall in love with players.  Sure every team has their untouchables like Braun, Kemp and the like but you also have guys like Carlos Ruiz, Rickie Weeks, and Torii Hunter.  The point being ALWAYS look to improve your roster at all times.  Don't keep a guy in your lineup like Weeks who is doing absolutely nothing this year just because you drafted him fairly early.

Below is a list of some guys you should be targeting currently who are owned in less than 80% of leagues.

Ty Wigginton - The burly multi position eligible veteran is batting in the .290 range with a bit of pop and eligibility at 1st, 3rd, and Outfield.

Carlos Ruiz - Sure we mentioned him above as a guy to not be married to but now is a time to be dating him at least.  Chooch is producing more than any catcher in the league currently and should be owned in all formats.

Add me guys......
Gerardo Parra - Parra is producing at all facites of the game currently.  He is a perfect guy to target if you are in need of some speed and runs scored.

Chris Johnson - The Astro third baseman is currently hitting over 300 and has 18 RBIs.  Not too shabby for a guy owned in only 25% of ESPN leagues.

Jerome Williams - This veteran has been underwhelming for much of his career but he currently is 3-1 with a sub 3.5 ERA.  He is someone to grab if the right match up presents itself.

Wei-Yin Chin - For a guy owned in less than 4% of ESPN leagues he owns a 2.76 ERA in 5 starts.  While you probably don't want to role with him in his next start against the Rangers he is someone to grab in decent matchups.

POWER SURGE

Giancarlo Stanton owners are finally getting what they have been waiting for.  A Stanton POWER SURGE.  Today Stanton hit his 6th bomb in 9 games with this broken bat laser. (from our friends at MLB.com)

Aint Going out like that......

By Fantasy Boyz Editor in Chief Corey Bugenhagen

YOU WILL BE MISSED
In a 24 hour period it seemed as it was the end of an era for me personally.  Thursday night I flipped on the Yankees pregame show to see one of my all time idles Mo Rivera writhing in pain on the warning track in Kansas City.  My heart sank, was I never to see Mo close out the 9th for the Yankees ever again?  His press conference after the game seemed ominous.  Friday took another turn for the worst when it was reported that Beastie Boys founding member Adam Yauch had passed.  Two things I have loved since I was in school were suddenly gone.  I suppose this will continue as a get older.  More and more things will change and disappear that I have known.  It is the way of the world. At least Mo has confirmed he is coming back for one more year.  My childhood can continue...

To get back to a Fantasy Baseball perspective I hope all of you Rivera owners had the ability to pick up David Robertson.  Robertson immediately becomes one of the top rated closers in the game.  He has lightning stuff and hasn't allowed a run in a years time.  Robertson obviously should be owned in all leagues.

RIP MCA....
